Journal entries, ledger and corrections

Use a manual entry when no suitable operational document covers the accounting event. Review invoice-generated entries alongside their source invoice.

Before you start

Select the correct company and verify permissions. Learn in a test workspace; posting or restoring can change actual data.

Workflow

  1. 1Choose date, period and description, then add posting accounts on both sides.
  2. 2Review debit, credit, currency and exchange rate; the entry must balance.
  3. 3Save a draft and post after review; open the ledger for the same account and period.
  4. 4For a posted error, review the available reversal or correction action rather than silently rewriting history.
Captured in local preview. Names and balances are samples; controls can differ with permissions and activated products.

Watch this distinction

A balanced entry does not prove correct account selection. Do not duplicate an automatic entry with a manual entry for the same transaction.

Verify the result

Reopen the record and check saved values and state. For financial operations, compare the document with the relevant movement and report before continuing.
